Whether you a budding cheese maker, a cheese enthusiast or simply just love cheese, our cheesemaking workshops are a great introduction to cheesemaking.
The workshops are held in our ‘classroom’ on the farm next to our dairy (home of Bidlea Dairy, The Orchards Farm, Twemlow Lane, Holmes Chapel CW4 8DS).
During the workshop we will cover the basic principles of cheese-making, giving you the opportunity to get hands on and make your own fresh soft cheese, which you take away to enjoy at home.
We’ll also show you how we make our Burts Cheese, and you can get involved in the process too. This cheese will be cared for and matured at the dairy and these can be collected from the dairy at a later date.
And of course there’s plenty to sample and taste along the way!
The workshops are run by Claire Burt, for more information contact Claire on 0770 9394292 or email claire@burtscheese.com
Dates and availability for the workshops are on the shop page, visit our ‘Shop’.
We typically post new dates one to two months in advance.
Our cancellation policy:
We limit the numbers on our workshops to 5, we therefore have a clear 7 day cancellation policy to ensure that we cover our costs and ensure the ongoing viability of the workshop.
However, we appreciate due to unforeseen circumstances you maybe unable to attend a workshop so we are happy for you to send someone to take your place if you are unable to attend with less than 7 days notice, we just will need their name and contact details prior to the workshop.
If you contact us 7 days in advance of the workshop, we can offer a transfer to a workshop on an alternative date. If there are no immediate suitable future dates, we can provide a voucher to be used for a future workshop booking. Unfortunately, there are no make-ups for missed workshops.
Should we need to cancel a workshop due to unforeseen circumstances, we will aim to give you as much notice as possible of the cancellation and a full refund. Unfortunately, we cannot accept any liability for travel or other costs.
“I attended An Introduction to Cheesemaking with Claire Burt, who makes the delicious award winning Burts Blue. The class was fun, relaxed and a nice sized group. We actually got to make cheese too. Claire really does know her stuff and I will definitely be attending her next event and would recommend her events to anyone who loves cheese.” Hayley Hadfield – Off The Wheaten Track
“I love cheese and I loved making cheese with Claire. She is a wonderful host and extremely knowledgable. Her passion for all things cheese is clear and is infectious. Delighted I took part in the course and have embarked on my own cheese making journey.” Sarah – Cheese Enthusiast
