Whether you a budding cheese maker, a cheese enthusiast or simply just love cheese, our workshops are a great introduction to cheesemaking.
The workshops are held in our ‘classroom’ on the farm next to our dairy (home of Bidlea Dairy, The Orchards Farm, Twemlow Lane, Holmes Chapel CW4 8DS) they are run by Claire Burt, for more information contact Claire on 0770 9394292 or email claire@burtscheese.com
Cheese Making Workshops we cover the basic principles of cheese-making, giving you the opportunity to get hands on and make your own fresh soft cheese, which you can take away to enjoy at home. We’ll also show you how we make our Burts Cheese, and you can get involved in the process too. This cheese will be cared for and matured at the dairy and can be collected from the dairy at a later date. And of course there’s plenty to sample and taste along the way!
Mozzarella Workshops a unique experience to taste mozzarella as it should be, made that day! Before the class we’ll transform milk from the Bidlea herd into curds and then you can perform the all important ‘stretch test’ to understand when the curds are ready for the ‘filatura’ (spinning the curds in hot water), observe as curds undergo this process and are shaped into the bocconcini, (there’s an opportunity to gets hands on shaping the mozzarella if you feel comfortable handling the hot curd). We’ll also have a go at making a Burrata, a Mozzarella outer case filled with Mozzarella and cream, (previously we’ve also flavoured these with wild garlic and pesto!) After we’ve made our cheese, we’ll serve and enjoy with accompaniments.
Group ‘experiences’ we can tailor our cheese making workshops for private and corporate experiences, for more information contact Claire Burt on 07709394292 or email claire@burtscheese.com

“I attended An Introduction to Cheesemaking with Claire Burt, who makes the delicious award winning Burts Blue. The class was fun, relaxed and a nice sized group. We actually got to make cheese too. Claire really does know her stuff and I will definitely be attending her next event and would recommend her events to anyone who loves cheese.” Hayley Hadfield – Off The Wheaten Track
“I love cheese and I loved making cheese with Claire. She is a wonderful host and extremely knowledgable. Her passion for all things cheese is clear and is infectious. Delighted I took part in the course and have embarked on my own cheese making journey.” Sarah – Cheese Enthusiast
